Ishmael Gilbert’s act of kindness went viral after it was told by a Target customer on Facebook.

A Target cashier gained fame after being kind to a customer. The story that went viral was told by another customer, who was standing in the line at the shop.

Sarah Owen Bigler was doing her normal shopping at Target. She was next in line to an older woman, she was tired after a full day at work so all she wanted was to get the shopping done as soon as possible and to get home. So when she saw that the woman standing in front of her was paying with change only and wanted to have each item packed separately, she became extremely frustrated.

But then something changed. She looked at how the young employee was handling the annoying situation and discovered with surprise that he was extremely kind and patient with the older woman. He counted her change and he took it with tenderness from the woman. When the woman was asking question, he answered with a very polite yes mam. She also asked if she had enough money to buy a reusable bag as well and then he went a got her a bag that was two lines further and repackaged her products. She said that he never rolled his eyes or had other behavior that would show his annoyance. He was kind until the end.

The mother of two noticed that her daughter had been watching carefully the situation as well. She then realized that she and her daughter have been taught an invaluable lesson on kindness and patience. The employee reminded her that she should reevaluate her patience and her kindness.

After the elder woman left, the employee thanked Sarah for her patience and she then proceeded by thanking him for the way he treated the woman. After that she went to find the manager and told her about the employee’s patience. When she went home she took to Facebook to relate this great story, but didn’t expect it to be viral. Until now, her post has been shared by more than 24,300 people.

The employee was found out to be Ishmael Gilbert, a 19 year old who is also the father of a young girl. He said that was surprised by the news that he became famous overnight and claimed to treat the customers the same way he would want to be treated if he were in their place. The Target cashier that gained fame after being kind to a customer said that this is the kind of role model he would like to be for his daughter.
