Apple decided to play a little rough with their Watch, so they announced that it will become available for sale at Target locations in the following week. The locations were not announced officially, but what we do know is that every Apple show will be selling these devices by the 25th of October. It is going to be interesting to see how Apple is going to make up for the Watch’s disappointing start.
If you do not already know, the Apple Watch was not as “cool” as everybody though it would be, or even as Apple though it would be. The market got a little bit excited, people showed up when it was released, but the sales were not really that good. Apple did not mention any figures because of “the disappointment within” and they had to say that they were not saying anything to not give feedback to the competition.
As far as we know, Target is going to take Apple Watch orders that will be on sale starting with October 18th. Target is also not going to be selling every Apple Watch version. So if you were planning to get a few thousand dollar expensive watch, you can relax. We do not know exactly what watch types Target will be holding, so we have to wait and see for ourselves.
Apple believes, but we think it is hoping, that the Apple Watch is going to re-hit the market strong and that more and more people will get accustomed to its looks and services. Thus, partnerships are being made so that Apple can come closer to its users, wherever they are. It seems like a good plan that might give some results, but we fear that this is only a desperate attempt.
Let’s think about it this way: you have a product that you got the world all hyped about, but it did not create the sales you hoped for. You see that not many people want to buy it, so you are just extending the area of purchase, hoping somewhere, at some time, somebody might want to buy an Apple Watch, so it is safe that they have a purchasing point nearby. Doesn’t it look over pushed?
Maybe it will work, we do not yet know. Apple does have a reputation for getting things done, so maybe the Watch will catch up at some point. The only thing that we know now for certain is that Apple is trying hard to sell the Watch.
