Baby Conner, who was once a conjoined twin was finally discharged from the hospital.

Baby Conner, a formerly conjoined twin is finally home. When Conner and Carter were born, the babies were conjoined in the area of the abdomen. They had the same small intestine and their livers were fussed.

The babies were born in December 2014. In May 2015, the babies underwent a surgery that separated the boys. The separation surgery lasted for 12 hours and other surgeries were done in order for the twins to survive. In order to allow the babies to feed orally, two teams of doctors separated the small intestines. The first baby that was released from the hospital was Conner. Carter had to stay longer at the hospital mainly because he was underweight. A recent weigh of baby Carter showed that he was only 16 pounds and he will continue his stay at the Wolfson Children’s Hospital until the doctors will believe that he is healthy enough to stay with his family.

The twins, that are now 13 months old have been taken care of by more than 200 specialists since they were born. These specialists include surgeons, pediatricians and nurses. Before being discharged from the hospital, the twins got to meet each other and play, according to the Brantley family. The father of the twins said that he is not sure that the boys understand that they are brothers, but he said that he was sure that the time will come shortly. Mirabal also said that he can’t wait to finally get the chance to spend time with his sons and to teach them about dogs and cars. According to the doctors, when the separated twins saw each other for the first time, Carted started to cry, but the crying was soon enough replaced with a smile at his former conjoined brother. Also, the boys started to play and they kept grabbing each other’s hands.

Dr. Daniel Robie, from the Wolfson Children’s Hospital said that he and his team will miss baby Connor. Robie said that even though it is going to be hard not seeing the baby, Conner will be with his parents, as he should. The doctors and the staff at the hospital have gotten used to seeing the twins every day. When Connor was taken home, he waved at the medical staff from his car seat.

As baby Conner, a formerly conjoined twin is finally home, the parents are expecting for baby Carter to be with them soon.
