How About Wearing An Airbag Bike Helmet?

A new bike helmet was developed

Researchers managed to develop a new airbag bike helmet.

Researchers at Stanford University want to change the way we use a bike helmet. Their new device is a helmet that has a soft pocket worn around the neck, which will work like an air bag during a collision. The new bike helmet will be available in some European countries and it is possible to see it also in the United States in the future.

It could come as a surprise, but bicycling is the main cause of sports brain injuries in the United States. David Camarillo, the author of this new device, decided to make a helmet which will really protect people against a concussion. It was proved that these new airbag bike helmet can reduce head accelerations five times more compared to a traditional helmet we all use.

It seems that this new device is better because it has a large size, which allows for a more cushioned fall. However, there will more tests in the future because researchers have some issues to solve. It seems that when the scientists maximized the amount of air, the helmet could bottom out. This could lead to a hit with more force what  would happen with a traditional bike helmet.

The researchers have bigger plans. They want to do this helmet smarter than a common one. They hope they will manage to make it predict the impact. If the issues will be solved, the new airbag helmet bike could be one of the most interesting discoveries that have been made.

Bicycles were first used in the 19h century. At the moment, more than 1 billion are produced around the world. There are millions of people who use them as the main mean of transportation in some regions. Because of their advantages, bicycles are used in most of the courier services.

If you want your child to be healthy and do physical activity, a good idea would be to buy him a bike. Moreover, if you want to protect our planet, a bike is the best option because it is not polluting the air.

The biggest problem is that not all the people who use bikes are wearing helmets. Accidents happen and it is better to be prepared for anything. What do you think about the new device researchers have developed? Will it be better than a traditional bike helmet?
