Fitness guru and reality television star, Greg Plitt, was struck and killed by a Metrolink Train on Saturday in Burbank California. Local law enforcement officials confirmed 37-year-old Plitt was hit by the train at 4:05 pm on the tracks at Front Street, which is located just north of the station.
According to Sargent Scott Meadows with the Burbank Police Department, at this time it looks as if Plitt’s death was a horrible accident opposed to a suicide. Evidence in the form of a camera was seized by police but no one is sure if it belongs to Plitt or someone who witnessed the accident.
One passenger on the train told reporters that Plitt had used that area of the tracks to shoot workout videos in the past and that when he was hit a camcorder was in his hand. Apparently, Plitt was filming something although law enforcement officials claim there was no formal filming permit issued to him.
Plitt often appeared on Work Out, a Bravo television show, as well as Friends to Lovers that just premiered this past Monday. He was also a highly respected fitness expert for other venues and prior to his professional career, he graduated from West Point in 2000 and then became a United States Army Ranger.
A spokesperson for Bravo said this is a horrible tragedy and that thoughts and sympathy go out to Plitt’s entire family and his large circle of friends. When told of the accident, Andy Cohen the host on Bravo said that after seeing him on Work Out, it was impossible to look away. Cohen added that Plitt was not only beautiful on the outside but a very kind person. To some, he seemed to be invincible much like Superman.
Because Plitt’s death is still under investigation, no formal statement will be made but hopefully, everyone will have more information as to what actually happened very soon.
