If you are familiar with the Saints Row games, then you’ll definitely want to find out about the Saints Row game canceled in 2009.
Volition offered the fans of the games a little glimpse of the Saints Row Undercover game that was supposed to be launched a few years ago. One of the producers from the studio discovered a PSP dev kit and this led to the whole world finding out about a game that nobody ever knew about.
The game was supposed to be a port for Saints Row, but it shortly became a stand- alone game after the developers thought about the project as not being feasible enough. The game resembles the other Saints Row games and it is an open world, action game. The game was originally called Saints Row: The Fall and featured some characters, a mission tutorial and an open world. Josh Stinson, who is a video editor was a bit shocked at how rough the game looked, but he said that it was expected since the game was not finished. The Volition employees were still very impressed with what the developers did in such a short time and with the technology they had back then.
Mike Watson, who is the community manager of Volition stated that the project was canceled because the developer of the game, didn’t measure up to their high expectations. They chose an outsider developer because Volition doesn’t specialize in handheld development. While the game was still in progress, Volition and THQ decided to review the game and when they saw that this version of the Saints Row gam wasn’t as good as the previous ones, they decided to stop the game’s development.
Saints Row tells the story of a gang that is called Third Street Saints. The title of the game was inspired by the gang’s home territory. The gameplay is filled with racing sequences and action and adventure scenes. The series is famous for its comedic elements. The stories of the games feature parodies, self-referential humor and culture homages. In September 2013, the game series sold more than 14 million units and is considered one of the bestselling video games series.
The latest game in the Saints Row series was the Saints Row IV expansion Gat Out of Hell, which was a standalone and was released in 2017. Even though the representatives from Volition hesitated in showing the game, they decided to do it and to move on with it. If you want to find out more about the Saints Row game canceled in 2009, the game will be streamed this Thursday, January 28, on Twitch.
