Leading a healthier lifestyle by eating exercising more and losing weight is among the priorities of most Americans for the new year. However, around 30 percent of people making such New Year’s resolutions will eventually abandon them without actually trying. To help people stick to their plans, Walmart and Sam’s Club have started a collaboration consisting of free health screenings.
The promotion will be available in over 5,200 location across the United States, through which the companies hope to inform their customers about their current state of health by undertaking a short health screening.
According to George Riedl, the president of Walmart Health & Wellness, has stated that the company started the collaboration with Sam’s Club for the very first time and created the largest event in the country for free health screenings, as a way to help customers maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The event will mostly focus on screenings involving body weight like fat readings at the Sam’s Club locations while Walmart customers can take tests measuring their body fat as well as their body mass index. Knowing precise information about your body’s current state is the first step in making healthier choices and improvements to your life.
According to the most recent CDC reports, over one-third of all adults in the US are obese meaning that body fat, as well as body max index measurements, are very important to know and understand as people try to improve their condition. Obesity can lead to a number of conditions like stroke, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and several types of cancer.
Previous free health screenings event organized by Walmart and other organizations have allowed low-income individuals to learn more about their conditions and uncover existing health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes signs and other types of potential illnesses.
During the event, Walmart will offer several tests for blood glucose and pressure, visions tests and the previously mentioned body mass index and body fat tests. Furthermore, health insurance information will be made available as well as various product samples. Over 10,000 Walmart licensed pharmacists will offer free immunizations in select stores.
