While Westeros has not yet been annexed by Google Maps, a very detailed map of the fictional land is now available online. It was designed by a hardcore fan of the franchise and looks absolutely amazing.
It’s always been said that fictional worlds are so similar to the real life and along the years we’ve all experienced fiction that we truly connected with. Now, a Game of Thrones fan managed to do the exact opposite and gave his beloved fictional universe some very real features, like an online map that is very similar to the Google Maps we all know and love.
The map was created by Etsy shop owner, Danny, who is selling it for $21 on his online shop, Mongolife.com. If you really love George R.R. Martin’s world, then a map might be of great use to better pinpoint all the characters’ journeys.
Danny’s map is a poster, but a very detailed poster, available at a very high resolution, that you can print or just keep on your phone. You can zoom in and out and you can even follow the Kingsroad across all the kingdoms of Westeros.
Since Game of Thrones takes place in a very vast world, comprehending the distance between the kingdoms and realizing just how far the main characters are one from another has proven to be rather difficult for the fans.
There is quite a long road from The Wall to King’s Landing and from Dorne to Bravos, but thanks to this new map, fans can see just how big the Game of thrones universe really is.
Even the HBO series put great emphasis on location, because this was a notorious challenge faced by admirers of the book franchise. The entire length of the opening credits has been awarded to an animated version of a small map of Westeros, in the hopes that the great music will hold the viewers’ attention so they may get a lay of the land.
As it turns out, that was only part of the George R.R. Martin’s universe. Now, thanks to the new Game of thrones map, it is easier and much more realistic to locate the exact whereabouts of the infamous Lanisters and the few remaining Starks.
