HTC Ocean has been revealed in a new leaked video.
Despite recent setbacks, HTC still remains one of the major companies in the smartphone industry producing phones appreciated by consumers worldwide. Among its entire upcoming lineup of devices, probably none has been more leaked and speculated about more than the HTC Ocean.
The smartphone is expected to be officially revealed later this year, but thanks to Evan Blass, one of the most prolific smartphone leakers that are active currently, interested customers can now get a preview of the long-rumored HTC Ocean. Before we delve into the specific details the new leaked promo video, it is important to remember that this device is separate from the HTC Ocean Note, which many industry experts are expecting to be revealed next week.
In regards to the promo video showcasing the newest HTC handset, users can now see how the design of the phone is very likely to turn out. The case of the phone seems to be made out of metal, coming in black as most likely one of the many different variants. Furthermore, the rear-facing camera is placed in the upper-center part of the phone, similar to the HTC One A9 design.
HTC finally decided to take a more bold approach to their products, as the HTC Ocean showcased in the video has an edge-to-edge display, with the sides being slightly curved, but not as much as those seen on the Samsung Galaxy S7.
The video reveals that HTC has added at least one feature that takes advantage of the slightly curved display. The panel on the edge serves as a quick launch field for several apps, which are very probably to be determined by the user. Currently, there are several such apps on the Play Store which users with a curved edge smartphone can make use of. However, it seems that the apps found on the HTC Ocean come pre-installed.
Additionally, the promo video reveals that the device won’t feature the standard physical home button included below the display. Instead, it comes with a capacitive home key in the form of the small circle. However, it may very well be a LED light as well. This aspect remains to be determined either in a future leak or at the device’s official reveal.
