It’s been a bad day for many iOS users, who had no trouble turning to Twitter to complain about Instagram being down. Hashtags like #instagramdown and #instagramcrash have trended heavily for several hours on July 26.
For some users, it started on Monday night, July 25, as Facebook’s photo- and video-sharing platform appeared to go down intermittently. When it continued to have trouble on Tuesday, all sorts of jokes surfaced on social media platforms.
“What are IG models and food bloggers to do with themselves during these hard times?” is a question that was frequently and ironically asked, referring to the hundreds of Instagram accounts that focus on photographing food or showing off outfits.
According to reports that didn’t take long to appear, the problem of the app going down for some users was soon fixed. It seems that even though some users were allowed to load the Instagram app, they would be kicked out in a matter of minutes.
Thousands of despairing IS users turned to Twitter – and other social media platforms – to figure out what had happened and express their frustration. Misery loves company, right? It’s better if you know others have the same problem as you do.
Conflicting reports talked mostly about Instagram appearing to be down for Android users and not iOS Instagrammers. However, some reported the app was definitely crashing on both platforms.
Trying to load Instagram via the website was also riddled with problems. But this might be good news for the photo sharing app – the fact that so many users have expressed their dismay for the temporary app crash just goes to show how popular Instagram has become.
In terms of fixes, the common workaround touted on social media asked users to delete the app and then reinstall it. However, some users reported having done so and still encountering problems. They were encouraged to repeat the delete-and-reinstall gist several times to get Instagram to remain stable on their phones.
Some people might think that Instagram promotes selfishness and silliness among grown adults, but others have experienced the powerful platform Instagram can be for those want to promote their business.
If you’re in the mood for some fun jokes regarding the temporary Instagram crash, head over to Twitter and search for hashtags like #Instagramcrash and #Instagramdown.
