LG will launch an upgraded TV platform in 2017.The WebOS version 3.0 platform will be available for purchase at the beginning of the new year, in January. Numerous new features come along with the platform, broadcast TV and streaming services included. The process of switching between options and finding them has been majorly simplified
WebOS 3.0 offers new so called magic features: Magic Remote, Magic Mobile Connection and Magic Zoom. The Magic Remote lets you control every entertainment device in your house, all from only one device. The IoTV app will make possible the integration with every home smart device. The Magic Mobile Connection feature allows you to connect your phone to the TV screen, if you want to see the content of your smartphone on a bigger scale. The last of the three features, Magic Zoom, allows you to magnify letters and objects on the screen, without making the image fuzzy.
The new webOS 3.0 has other new features like Channel Advisor and Channel Plus. After analyzing what you usually watch, Channel Advisor will automatically display your favorite TV shows and will let you know when there are new episodes available to watch. On the other hand, Channel Plus combines broadcast channels from the TV with content taken from the Internet. The upgraded music player allows you to use the platform’s speakers even when the TV is not on.
The upgraded menus will allow you to add up to 10 of your favorite channels. This will make it easier to check on other channels without having to switch between the big amount of channels you were provided. But the greatest addition is the multi-view feature that will let you watch two or more channels at the same time. The ability to split screen contents will definitely attract more people.
The last platform of the kind was introduced by the Korean giant in 2014. The CEO of LG, Brian Kwon, said that the majorly updated platform focuses on making everything easier to use, from the connection to switching and that they are trying to win customers through creativity and constant innovation.
LG also updated its OS smartphone in order to work better with the TV platform. With Android and iOS phones leading the market, a new WebOS phone launch is unlikely to happen. LG will launch an upgraded TV platform though at CES 2016 and experts are predicting that it will do really good.
