This way the animals are protected from animal abusers.
Any person who owns a pet knows how much love these animals can bring to us. All of us are wondering why animal abusers still hurt animals. This is why state officials decided to adopt a new law in Michigan. This law is going to help pets get protection from animal abusers.
This law passed the Legislature with strong support this month. This law allows people that run animal shelters to lead a background check and to determine if a person can adopt an animal. This way the animals are protected from animal abusers.
Until now a criminal background check was required but the legislation was not as permissive as this one. Now the workers from shelters can use the Internet Criminal Access Tool. This way it is much easier to check people in order to find the best person for these pets.
After they run the background check the people who work at an animal shelter can decide whether or not they will allow that person to adopt an animal. This way the animals will be protected from animals abusers.
The animal shelter has all the right to accept or deny the application for people who want to adopt an animal. These bills came after Logan’s Law. Logan was a dog which was blinded when somebody throws battery acid at it.
The dog died a few months after. Logan’s owner mentioned that somebody did that on purpose and that if he finds out who did it he wants to ask for legislative action. This made state officials decide to accept the bills in order to help animals.
Other bills that were signed were to prohibit governments from imposing a fee for using plastic bags. Another bill allows life-saving drugs which reverse the effects of drug overdoses to be available without any prescription.
All of the laws that were adopted in Michigan are great laws that are going to help both people and animals. This is a great start for the state for helping animals be protected from animal abusers.
What is your opinion about these bills? Do you think that these are going to make a change?
