LG unveiled its PJ9 levitating speaker before CES 2017.

Smart home appliances are gradually becoming more mainstream. People are adopting an at increased rate various hardware from the common smart lights system to home assistants.  LG has recently announced that it will unveil a number of advanced smart home devices during the Consumers Electronic Show in Las Vegas in 2017.

However, it seems that the company has decided to create a bit excitement for the eventual reveal of their entire line of products, with an early showcase of a futuristic levitating speaker called PJ9.  At its core, it’s just a wireless Bluetooth speaker with the mesmerizing capacity to hover in place over a specially designed platform.

According to LG, their PJ9 levitating speaker is powered by a massive battery capable of offering 10 hours of music streaming.  However, the main aspect of this wireless speaker is its ability to hover above its Levitation Station thanks to a number of powerful electromagnets. The speaker itself has the shape of a turbine featuring a 360-degrees omnidirectional speaker. It’s also equipped with the Dual Passive Radiator technology making it capable of reproducing rich mid-range and high tones while it seamlessly plays your favorite tunes or other audio content.

The PJ9 levitating speaker is also suitable for outdoor use as it is capable of withstanding various types of adverse weather conditions. However, it’s very likely that the speaker is only water resistant and not waterproof. As such, some caution is necessary.

One of the most noteworthy features of the speaker, besides its capacity to levitate, consists in the fact that as it starts to be low on power, the speaker will automatically descend to its Levitation Station. From that point, it will begin to charge wirelessly without any need of connecting any cables or interrupting the music.

Brian Kwon, the CEO and president of LG Home Entertainment Company, emphasized that LG is committed to the exploration of new concept and innovative technology for their audio products, with the PJ9 being just the latest example of their dedication as it combines a unique design with flawless functionality.

During CES, LG is set to unveil a number of other smart home appliances, their K series phones, a portable projector, and other new devices.
