Snapchat might Have some New Features

Snapchat could introduce some new features.

Snapchat might have some new features, according to some information leaked on the Internet. These include stickers within the chat interface of Snapchat, video and audio calling.

If Snapchat will make the changes shown in the leaks, the it might be able to compete with more popular messaging apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat and Google Hangouts. WeChat, which is a Chinese app used for messaging is admired by the CEO of Snapchat, Evan Spiegel. Spiegel said that he appreciates the way in which the Chinese messaging apps manage to make money through games, commerce and digital contents. Because Snapchat is backed up by Alibaba, the idea that the messaging app will be inspired by the Asian ones, comes as no surprise. We expect that soon enough, Snapchat will make the most of its commercial potential. Maybe the integrating stickers will help with that. According to Chris Messina, who is a developer at the Uber Technologies Inc. said that 2016 will be the year that will introduce the concept of conversational commerce.

Snapchat latest experiment with the selfie lenses integrated in the app proved to be unsuccessful. The experiment was shut down earlier this month and that means that the company is trying to figure out other ways of increasing its revenues through their messaging app. The stickers might be a better idea than the selfie lenses, as companies like Line and WeChat make millions out of the stickers sold on their messaging platforms. The stickers will not only increase Snapchat’s revenue, but the new interface of the app could make it a worthier competitor in the messaging apps field.

The leaks revealed that Snapchat might have new features for the video and audio calling. Snapchat already has the video chat feature, but it it’s a bit difficult to use, since both of the people who want to speak have to be present at the same time in order for the video chat to work. This means that the feature is not very practical, and as long as there are better video calling features on platforms like FaceTime and Skype, people will keep using those. It remains to be seen how the video calling will be made much simpler, on the interface that is mostly used for texting.

Snapchat might have some new features and other than the stickers, the audio calling and the improved video calling, other features will include the possibility of sharing images and digital sketches from the photo gallery of the smartphones.
