If you’re dying to test out some of the features Microsoft has planned for their upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update, then you should check out their most recent build which rolled out today. The Windows 10 PC build 14971 is available right now to Fast Ring Insiders. It brings some new features alongside an array of fixes and improvements.
When the previous Windows 10 test build was made available to Slow Ring Insiders, it was a sign that the company will soon release a new version for the Fast Ring. The new Creators Update test build features a preview of the highly expected Paint 3D app. The new take on the traditional Paint is one of the many ways that Microsoft plans to facilitate the life of creators and enable them to let loose.
Although the update is expected to go live only around March 2017, the preview which is available through the start menu is enough to get a lot of users excited about its new functionality. However, at this point, its only available in English and most of the capabilities are still locked.
The new test build also enables users to read books in EPUB format directly on Microsoft Edge. The feature is a way to easily access any unprotected EPUB file format and even allows you to customize your reading experience by changing the type of font and its size, as well as setting bookmarks.
The Get Office feature also get an upgrade. Previously it was only a collection of links which helped users get started with the Office apps. Now it a fully improved app that allows users a wide a variety of exploration and management options for their Office software. It offers an easily accessible location from all your recent Office documents.
The final major feature of this Creators Update test build is that PowerShell is the new command shell as it replaces Command Prompt. However, anyone who still prefers the old system can enable it in the settings menu as the default option.
The test build also includes a variety of fixes and improvements such as quality of life changes, translation improvements, better notifications, and more.
