Seventy-year old former singer Gary Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was convicted of four counts of indecent assault, attempted rape and one count of having sexual intercourse with a girl less than 13 years of age.
Gadd denied all the charged. He was acquitted of three other charges at the Southwark Crown Court in London.
Police are currently investigating information that relates to other possible victims.
Gadd was detained and held in custody following the verdicts. He will be sentenced on February 27. He could spend up to life behind bars for the offense of sex with a girl less than 13.
The testimony in the case said that Gadd tried to rape one girl who was less than 10 years old in 1975.
The girl said the former singer, while she was sleeping, entered her bed but she managed to escape Gadd by moving and wrapping up in blankets and sheets.
The victim said she was at the singer’s mansion on a number of occasions when she was a child and following the attack, the drunken Gadd fell asleep in the same bed while she went to the bathroom and locked herself in.
Gadd also attacked two girls, one who was 12 and the other either 13 or 14. He invited them backstage following one of his concerts. He claimed however, he had been cleaning his wig and could not have raped the two.
The 12- year old said she had been attacked following a show held at a nightclub in Leicester in 1977. She had been invited to his hotel suite where the abuse was carried out by Gadd, after she had been pushed onto a bed.
The court also heard that Gadd had forcefully kissed the 13 year, put a hand up her skirt and told her later that it was their secret.
The jury of five men and seven women had been deliberating since Wednesday following the trial of two weeks.
Gary Glitter reached his peak in fame in the 1970s. He was first arrested back in 1999 after admitting to possession of images of child pornography.
One of the prosecutors said that thankfully the jury was able to see through Gadd’s fake tears and attempts to paint the victims as gold diggers, liars and opportunistic.
