Game of Thrones fans have a reputation for making up theories and linking the events of Westeros to create extra spoils, but this new theory is so out of the ordinary, so unexpected that it might actually prove true. It’s about John Snow and his twin sister and how they were both separated at birth. You didn’t see that one coming right? John might have a twin sister and that changes the game a lot.
Because we do not want fans to get spoilt completely, we will have to mention that “this post is dark and full of spoils”, so if you want to maintain your level of surprise for when you read the books or the next season, we advise you to look away and pretend that you did not already see the amazing spoil in the title and in the first paragraph.
Having that out of the way, we may proceed to explaining how Jon’s twin sister survived so much in Westeros without anybody knowing about her and without having her killed by now. It all started with a Reddit prediction about how season 6 would start. A user who refers to himself as ghostchief predicted that the season would start with a flashback at the Tower of Joy.
The scene would start with the famous “Promise me, Ned” moment and after baby Jon was passed on and Ned starts crying, a new baby girl cry can be heard. Keep in mind that this is only prediction, but let’s just go with it. If it were true, who is the baby girl? Howland Reed entered the Tower of Joy with Ned and ghostchief theorized that Reed might have taken the baby girl with him.
Ned returning home with two bastards would have been way too obvious, so he had to split the pain with another comrade after having promised Lyanna to spare her children. Ned took Jon and Howland took the girl. And where does that lead us? Jon’s twin sister is Meera Reed, Jojen’s sister who was protected by her name all these years.
So it seems that we have a new throne claimer whom the world doesn’t know about and she herself doesn’t know about. But Martin has his own twisted way of making things more beautiful and complicated. So, for the sake of the argument, let’s say ghostchief is right and Meera is indeed Jon’s sister. This would change the game completely and her finding out would be a very interesting, forward-to-look-to experience.
